The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized HR Administrator to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships. We are looking for candidates with a passion for innovation and providing innovative problem-solving that will add value to SMEC. The successful incumbent shall be highly productive in their day to day tasks and also strive to align themselves and their work ethic to our company values.

Reports to

HR Manager

Primary purpose of position

To provide regional HR support and general office administration at our Soillab division.

Key Responsibilities 

With a minimum of 5 years of experience in the HR field, you will play a key role in:

• Providing HR support and general administration to the HR team,
• Minute taking in HR meetings & disciplinary hearings,
• Managing data, information, filing for HR Department,
• Keeping confidential information,
• Creating employee file and ensuring outgoing filing of documents
• Filing documents on a daily basis,
• Assisting with training and development,
• Managing the clock system,
• Assisting with recruitment process,
• Assisting with meeting planning and document control of the key performance reviews,
• Developing reports as needed,
• Induction of new employees,
• Responsible for new employee set-ups in the timekeeping system,
• Drafting of contract of employment and non-renewal of contract letters,
• Doing other administration duties, if required
• Assisting with IR issues including attending CCMA
• Other general HR tasks as assigned from time to time

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Suitable applicants will have/ be:

• Diploma in Human Resource Management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR field (essential)
• Knowledge of the South African Labour Law
