The role

We are currently seeking a Team Leader - Communication & Stakeholder Engagement to Develop and deliver communication plans including activities, materials and tools to use in projects, primarily across VIC, SA and WA.

The holder of this position will be a role model of the SMEC values, ethics and code of conduct and all aspects of this position will be carried out according to these guiding principles.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Developing and delivering communications and engagement project plans and services for SMEC projects;
  • Building community and stakeholder relationships;
  • Support the wider business, in particular the environment, transport and water groups with consultation services;
  • Assistance in the development of proposals, new business ventures and marketing activities.

With a track record of achievement in a related role, you ideally will have gained your experience in an engineering/design consultancy or contractor and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.  Ideally:

  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders
  • Experience in an Engineering, Consulting and Construction industry desirable.
  • Implemented activities outlined in Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement plans and all relevant sub-plans (Roads/Rail/Water/Planning sectors)
  • Management of Consultation Manager, web based contact management system
  • Responding to community enquiries and complaints about projects
  • Drafted notifications and project managing them through the approvals process including liaison with construction staff, clients and designers
  • Managed the distribution of notifications to the community through doorknocks, letterbox drops, e-mail notices, and the internet
  • Coordinated production of information for client websites with internal and external stakeholders and designers, including gaining internal and external approvals
  • Generated community updates and internal newsletter
